Sometimes dreams can be interrupted, paused for a moment only to be resumed later, more vivid, detailed, and focused. I can't remember when I started dreaming of being a music maker and performer but my first performance was at a McDonalds in 1976 for a short lived program called the Big Mac Supper Club and I was dreaming even before then. In the 80's I started living my dream when my band The Front (https://thefrontband.net/bio/) became one of the more popular Kansas City acts of the time. We did shows with John Waite, The Romantics, Modern English, Berlin, and a few others. We made local TV performances, toured the midwest and even auditioned for the popular TV show Star Search in Hollywood. I left the band shortly before they signed a big record deal but it was nice to see a song I wrote the music for become their only hit. For the next 3 decades I would raise a family and build a career while occasionally returning to my dream on days off and vacations, writing, recording, and performing as much as I could. It was during this period I discovered a new love. Children's music. With a push from my Montessori teacher wife, I began performing and writing music for children. This began a career as "Mr. Doolittle", children's musician, releasing self produced, original compositions, and performing at schools throughout the KC area and doing festivals such as KC's Jiggle Jam. In 2019 I decided to resume the dream full time and I retired early after nearly 40 years at UPS. In 2022 I was asked to write songs for The Invisible Riptide, a wonderful and much needed project aimed at helping families with mental health wellness. (https://www.facebook.com/theinvisibleriptide)
I love every minute of my life. I write, record, or perform music almost every day. They say do what you love and you will never work a day in your life. I can tell you its true.
